The space also creates a functional element of being able to move the chair by using the exposed wood parts instead of by touching the upholstered fabric of the back. The tightly upholstered inside back features double-needle stitching at the outer edges. The tightly upholstered arm has double-needle stitching along the inner edge that flows into the double-needle stitching of the inside back. Exposed wood seat rails frame the base of the chair seat. The lightly scaled, tapered exposed wood legs are supported on the sides and across the back by stretchers.
